About the Job
Our Transit & Rail Business Line is currently looking for an Overhead Contact System (OCS) Project Engineer to join our expanding team! As an OCS Project Engineer, you will gain exposure and take an active role in the design of OCS for rail electrification projects to include, Northeast Corridor Gateway Program -Sawtooth and Portal Bridge Replacement Projects; Caltrain Owner’s Representative – Electrification Support Services, Amtrak New Jersey High-Speed Rail Improvement Program (NJ HSRIP) - Overhead Contact System and Signal Power Mainline Improvements, The LA Metro Regional Connector Project, and multiple General Engineering Contracts (GEC) including SANDAG, SEPTA, Amtrak, and many other Agencies across the country.
Throughout the firm’s history, Gannett Fleming has worked with the majority of transit agencies and freight rail companies in the U.S. to plan, design, and build a variety of systems that help move people and goods.
Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinate end-user OCS requirements and criteria.
- Serve as project OCS engineer and represent the firm’s interests in developing and reviewing designs.
- Develop and review cost estimates and schedules.
- Participate in project working meetings and suggest alternative designs in performing Value Engineering review and analysis.
- Provide suggestions to create adjustments as necessary to keep construction costs within budget.
- Review consultant and contractor submittals and work closely with field force account labor on the installation of OCS components and software.
- OCS designs will include pole foundations, structural steel elements, sectionalizing, OCS layouts of various configurations, overhead wire profiling and support, load calculations, electrical and soil bearing data analysis and equipment and installation specifications.
- Field support during construction may be required.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering, or equivalent field, or equivalent experience.
- 5-10 years of experience in the design and construction of overhead contact systems. Knowledge of computer based catenary designs and structural support systems, OCS components and hardware.
- Experience working on large transit/railroad projects with various fixed termination, auto tensioned, single wire and compound catenary designs.
- Must be able to work collaboratively with other interfacing multi-disciplinary team members (other rail system engineers and civil, structural, electrical and mechanical engineers).
- Strong computer skills (Microsoft Office Suite, AutoCAD, and Microstation. Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
