Location: Newark, NJ
Position Overview:
As an Outside Sales Representative, you will be responsible for generating new business, managing existing accounts, and promoting our range of lumber and building materials. Your role will involve building strong relationships with contractors, builders, and other industry professionals to achieve sales targets and contribute to our continued success.
Responsibilities:
- Business Development: Identify and pursue new business opportunities in the assigned territory. Develop and execute strategies to increase market share and expand the customer base.
- Customer Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with current and prospective customers. Understand their needs and provide tailored solutions to meet their requirements.
- Sales Presentations: Conduct presentations and product demonstrations to showcase the benefits and features of our lumber and building materials. Provide expert advice and solutions to clients.
- Negotiation and Closing: Negotiate terms and conditions, prepare quotes, and close sales. Ensure a smooth transition from sale to delivery and follow up to ensure customer satisfaction.
- Market Analysis: Stay informed about market trends, competitor activities, and industry developments. Provide feedback to management to help shape product offerings and sales strategies.
- Sales Reporting: Maintain accurate records of sales activities, customer interactions, and pipeline status. Prepare regular reports and forecasts for management review.
- Customer Service: Address customer inquiries, resolve issues, and ensure high levels of customer satisfaction. Act as a liaison between the customer and the company.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional education or training in forestry, lumber, construction materials or logistics is preferred.
- Ideal candidate will have at least 1 year of sales experience
- Ideally, the candidate will have an established book of business
- Proficiency in Spanish is highly desirable
- Experience working with contactors, office staff and yard employees
- The ideal candidate will have strong people skills, problem solving skills and the ability to multi-task.
Schedule and Compensation:
- Monday to Friday – hours vary
- This is a travel position, outside field work meeting clients and building new business
- Base salary with commission (1-3%)
