Overview:TRC is seeking a qualified Commercial Energy Efficiency Programs Outreach Section Manager. This position manages the Commercial Efficiency Program Outreach team for small to medium businesses to ensure the achievement of program energy efficiency savings goals. This position is responsible for coordinating subordinate employee recruitment, selection and training, performance assessment, work assignments, salary, and recognition/disciplinary actions. This position oversees and facilitates the development of relationships with commercial electric utility customers and trade allies in an effort to stimulate the energy efficiency market activity. The successful candidate will direct the analysis of existing and anticipated customer requirements and promote the consideration of energy efficient products and services to fill such requirements. Support and help design the implementation of sales plans and campaigns, business plans, and territory sales plans.
Responsibilities:This position is located in Melville, NY.
The Commercial Efficiency Program (CEP) Outreach Section Manager is responsible for all aspects of implementing our utility client's Commercial Efficiency Programs (CEP). More specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Achieve and exceed CEP annual energy efficiency savings goals within a given budget for small and medium businesses.
- Provide coordination and oversight for the commercial efficiency team members (approximately 4 to 5 FTEs) and their associated energy efficiency projects.
- Must possess exceptional customer sensitivity and a commitment to customer satisfaction and have a familiarity with the wide range of technical, customer, and competitive regulatory, political, and environmental issues inherent in the delivery of energy efficiency programs.
- Work collaboratively with the Technical Support, Program Design, Marketing and Operations teams.
- Work with the Outreach associate director to develop and implement strategies to increase participation in the CEP and exceed program savings goals.
- Identify market opportunities for new energy efficient end-use technologies.
- Other tasks as deemed appropriate by Outreach associate director
- Must have excellent public speaking skills or be able to support Outreach associate director in presentations.
- Act as CEP liaison and presenter/public speaker at public industry events.
- Building mutually beneficial relationships with industry organizations, trades, and trade allies.
- Ability to direct marketing resources.
Basic Qualifications:
- Minimum of three years’ experience in a sales manager or an energy efficiency program implementation and/or management position
- Strong time management skills and an ability to work independently and in a team setting
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with an ability to develop and deliver convincing and professional public presentations
- Excellent interpersonal skills with a focus on customer satisfaction
- Ability to operate at an intermediate level in MS Office Word, Excel and PowerPoint
- Experience with Customer Relationship Management (CRM) software (e.g., MS Dynamics, Salesforce, etc.) in keeping track of staff activities, savings goals, spending, and have the ability to pull reports from the database
- Ability to interact with all levels of an organization
- Must have access to a late model vehicle and a clean US driver’s license for travel to office as well as customer/client meetings within the PSEG LI service territory (Nassau and Suffolk County and the Rockaways.
- Must live in or near Long Island or the Rockaways (PSEG Long Island service territory).
- Must be available off hours as needed to support evening and weekend events/presentations.
Desired skills/education:
- Sales/technical sales management experience
- Advanced degree e.g., MBA, master’s in engineering, etc.
- Experience with energy saving equations associated with energy saving measures such as – lighting, HVAC, motors and/or refrigeration equipment
- Leadership experience in a sale and/or energy efficiency related environment
- Certified Energy Manager (CEM) or LEED GA/AP
- Intermediate to advanced knowledge and experience with MS Excel, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint
- Understanding of the following organizations and how they relate to energy efficiency: USGBC, IES, DLC, CEE, UL, ACCA, NYSERDA, ASHRAE
Typical Minimums:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college, or equivalent experience/combined education, with professional experience and specialized training commensurate with assignment.

Compensation: In accordance with local law, the below salary range is applicable for the job and location associated with this requisition. Compensation will vary based upon experience, education, skill level, geographical location, and other compensable factors.
Other Compensation: Employee may be eligible for participation in the Company’s annual Discretionary Bonus Program which is contingent on Company, Business Segment, and Individual performance against Key Performance Indicators which vary by year and employee.
