UOVO, the premier storage and services provider for art, fashion, and cultural artifacts, seeks a full-time OTR National Shuttle Team Driver/Swing Warehouse Art Handler to support the Dallas Operations. The ideal candidate will have 3-5 years’ experience working with storage/collection management knowledge and will be comfortable moving a wide range of art objects. The candidate will report to the Warehouse Manager.
Core Responsibilities
Warehouse Art Handling Duties:
- Proper handling of art objects, using the appropriate methods and materials for packaging, loading & securing for safe transport
- Install/de-install artworks in-house or at offsite locations, often troubleshooting and utilizing critical thinking to solution scope changes.
- Preparation and careful execution of paperwork, including bills of lading, labels, driver logs, and detailed condition reports with accompanying photos if necessary
- Pack artworks for local, national and international transportation and storage
- Receive and release shipments, maintaining accurate inventory and condition reporting when applicable.
Over the Road Swing Team Driving Duties:
- Support driving a company vehicle, utilizing commercial drivers license, to transport works via UOVO’s fleet for national shuttle work to UOVO’s East and West coast location cross country.
- Operate up to a class 8 box truck in a team driving environment to provide timely delivery of property including but not limited to fine art and collectibles.
- Proper handling of art objects, using the appropriate methods and materials for organizing, packing, loading and unloading trucks, ensuring safe transport and accurate delivery.
- Proficiency using electronic inventory systems and barcode scanners when loading and unloading at each location.
- Communicate with dispatch via email, text, or phone regarding on-going trips and schedule updates.
- Preparation and careful execution of paperwork, including bills of lading, labels and driver logs.
- Safely operate a company vehicle and transport artwork to UOVO locations across the country.
- Preparation of condition checks and condition reports.
- Perform all required truck inspections to ensure proper maintenance and care of equipment.
- Other projects and tasks as assigned by manager.
Qualifications & Skills
- Active and clean CDL–A is required.
- Must have a clean driving record.
- Team Player
- Ability to work in a fast paced, detail-oriented, dynamic environment.
- Experience handling 2D and 3D artworks.
- Excellent customer service as well as strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Maintain compliance with all local, state, DOT regulations and have the ability to push and pull 150 pounds on a dolly or cart, as well as 50 pounds without mechanical aid and the ability to carry 40 pounds of varying size and shape up to a distance of 90 feet
- Must have a clean driving record.
- Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen, background check, and MVR.
- Ability to travel 5 days a week as needed to fill and support the national shuttle team on short notice.
- Maintain compliance with all local, state, and national DOT regulations.
- Ability to balance being a team player and taking initiative when necessary.
- Ability to stand, walk, square, bend, kneel, crouch, twist, and reach overhead.
- Ability to be exposed to outside weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain and snow.
- Ability to safely operate a forklift is preferred.
- Familiarity with the use of hand trucks, pallet jacks, J-bars, dollies, scissor lifts, genie lifts and other necessary warehouse equipment.
- Interest or experience in learning inventory management systems.
The Swing OTR Team Driver position requires travel up to 2-3 weeks per month, Monday to Friday, on the road. When not on the road, the driver will be based locally at UOVO’s Dallas warehouse, working a Monday through Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM schedule. Routes will start and end in Dallas each week, with occasional requests for night and weekend shifts.
