Summary:
The OSP Foreman is responsible for overseeing and shepherding external and internal resources to promote productivity of outside plant fiber optic underground and aerial construction with a high emphasis on safety and quality. This job will include work on weekends, holidays, standby and unscheduled hours, and overtime.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned:
- Maintain a safe environment and ensure all safety standards are met by working alongside crew members to direct and assist in project tasks
- Working with the Construction Managers to assist with coordination and scheduling of field activities to complete projects and/or permit deadlines
- Maintain optimal production performance to meet market objectives
- Request and verify all underground mark outs and utilities to mitigate damages
- Request, maintain and verify all traffic control resources and equipment
- Read blueprints and plan proposed routes for fiber placement while gathering info on poles, ROW, PUE and HH placement
- Communicate respectfully with businesses and homeowners to resolve any issues arising from projects on their property.
- Communicate daily with the superintendent and project planners, providing updates on progress, requesting change orders, and reporting any issues.
- Make field decisions on the constructability of plans required and present solutions when obstacles arise.
- Teach, train, and mentor crew members to develop their skills and ability to contribute to overall company goals and objectives.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, and/or QUALIFICATIONS
- Three or more years of FTTh construction experience is required
- Three or more years of OSP underground Or aerial construction experience is preferred
- Ability to operate a variety of underground equipment including Vermeer and Ditch Witch drills as well as corresponding locators or operate aerial equipment including placing and service bucket truck is required
- Ability to pull, splice and test fiber optic cable is preferred
- Demonstrated attention to quality construction practices and ensured timely closeout and delivery of the project schedule
- Ability to perform manual labor functions, walk on uneven ground, work in tight spaces, and work outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Hold a valid driver’s license and an insurance-acceptable driving record. Class A CDL is preferred.
- Must be in good physical condition with the ability to stoop, crawl, bend at the knees and waist, squat and lift up to 75 lbs; includes body weight, equipment, tools and boxes
