At Fast Pace Urgent Care, Orthopedic X-Ray Technicians provide clinical and administrative support essential for effective patient care under the direct supervision of a Provider (Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant). They provide outstanding patient service, maintaining a compassionate and welcoming atmosphere, and respond quickly and accurately to changes in condition or response to treatment in addition to imaging. The Orthopedic X-Ray Technician will provide effective customer service for all internal and external customers by using excellent, in- depth knowledge as well as communicating effectively with team members.
What You Will Do:
Clinical:
- Triage patients by checking and recording vitals, collect and record pertinent clinical history and all other information deemed necessary for proper charting in the EMS.
- Assists orthopedic provider in patient assessments and examinations.
Apply casts, splints, braces, and other orthopedic devices based on provider orders. - Prepare exam and treatment rooms for patient intake.
- Educate patients on device care, mobility restrictions, and follow-up appointments.
- Perform measurements and fittings for custom orthopedic devices.
- Perform phlebotomy, lab testing, and other basic nursing tasks when not directly in the course of a radio graphical exam.
- Perform wound care and suture removal as needed.
- Monitor and track x-ray orders so they can be completed and submitted in a timely manner.
- Assist patient with proper positioning during the exam to ensure diagnostic quality.
- Responsible to correctly label laterality of all images using initialed lead markers.
- Review exam images for initial read by provider and send final images to radiology group for over read.
- The ability to maintain friendly, cordial relations with all clients and employees; maintain a positive work atmosphere by acting and communicating in a manner that results in a positive work relationship with customers, co-workers, and managers.
Administrative:
- Verify insurance coverage, obtain authorizations, and schedule referrals.
- Maintain and update patient records.
- Prepare and organize patient charts for upcoming appointments.
- Schedule patient appointments and manage the appointment calendar.
- May perform as a Scribe as needed.
- Assist providers with conducting proper patient follow-ups, including but not limited to, conducting follow-up calls within 1-2 days of treatment, respond to messages within the same day of receipt.
- Answer phone calls, address patient inquiries, and triage urgent messages to orthopedic provider.
- Manage inventory, order medical supplies and medications as needed.
- Triage patients by checking and recording vitals, collect and record pertinent clinical history and all other information deemed necessary for proper charting in the EMS.
- Perform blood draws, give injections, administer oral medications and perform other basic nursing tasks when not directly in the course of a radio graphical exam if applicable in your state.
Non-Essential Functions:
- Assists with urgent care activities as orthopedic schedule allows.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Experience Requirements and Preferences::
- 1+ year of experience as a certified Radiologic Technologist
- Indiana Residents Only: In Indiana, Limited Scope License requires a State License and proof of ARRT License
