Orthodontic Assistant
POSITION OVERVIEW: The Orthodontic Assistant will support doctors during treatment exams and all necessary functions. RDAs are responsible for performing all duties of a Registered Dental Assistant while providing quality customer service and maintaining a professional relationship and positive attitude with co-workers and patients alike.
This position will be responsible for and do the following:
- Greet and prepare patients for dental care
- Assist the orthodontist at the chair while they are engaged in any treatment of patients
- Excellent communication skills
- Must anticipate the orthodontist's needs and be prepared for the next steps
- Removal and placement of arch wires
- Tooth preparation prior to bonding
- Accurate computer charting
- Sterilization of chairs and instruments
- Responsible for oral hygiene instructions
- Placement and removal of brackets
- Take panoramic and cephalometric x-rays as well as oral photographs
- Undertake lab tasks as instructed
EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum high school diploma or equivalent
- Knowledge of dental terminology and dental procedures
- Familiar with Sterilization
- Familiar with OSHA guidelines and procedures
- Experience in a professional environment with direct patient contact preferred
- Previous experience required
