What You'll Do:
As an Orchard Associate Lead, you will carry out our Mission of Love by performing a variety of tasks related to orchard production operations and fruit storage in accordance with specific instructions and assist in supervising and training Orchard Assistants.
Our Orchard Associate Lead is responsible for the following:
- Having an advanced understanding of orchard production tasks including planting, pest control, harvesting and tree trimming. Assisting in developing, establishing, and obtaining departmental financial and production goals.
- Demonstrating leadership skills and technical competence to manage orchard staff and daily orchard operations.
- Demonstrating the knowledge and ability to skillfully, safely and efficiently operate agricultural power equipment. Resolving staff grievances and maintaining good interdepartmental relationships.
- Recognizing seasonal peaks in fruit production and enforcing safety policies during harvest.
- Organizing and facilitating basic equipment maintenance and record keeping.
- Ensuring that orchard production record keeping requirements are completed in a timely fashion.
- Overseeing the movement of produce from the field to the storage. Understanding rotation schedules and handling rules for produce.
What You Have:
- High school graduate or equivalent preferred.
- Experience in general farm work preferred, with an emphasis on fruit crops.
- Mechanical ability preferred, with the ability to obtain a forklift operator's certification.
- Valid PA Driver's License.
- Ability to obtain a PA Pesticide Applicator's certification.
- Basic math / retail monetary skills
- Good written, oral, organizational and basic computer skills.
