Optical Transmission Scientist - Engineering Resource Group

Description

• Permanent position for an Optical Scientist to design and test the transmission behavior and performance of fiber-based technology, including novel optical fiber and fiber-based devices.
• Interface with advanced designs. and research & development of fiber and fiber-based devices.
• Conduct innovative research in optical fiber technology, particularly in the area of data transmission for both data transport and optical sensing.
• Conceive, design, assemble and test the transmission behavior and performance of fiber-based technology.
• Contribute to external publications and the generation of intellectual property.
• Interact with customers.
• Perform other related duties as required by management.

Requirements

• MS or PhD in Optics, Physics, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
• Experience with waveguide photonics, transmission theory, systems architecture, and related disciplines.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Demonstrated laboratory experience working with optical components and optical fibers.
• Coursework and/or research experience in photonics and optics, preferably optical fibers.
• Lab automation and computer skills.
• Ability to understand and perform optical simulations.
• Maintain discretion when working with confidential and proprietary information.
