About the Job
Works collaboratively to support the daily duties of the Optical Dispensary. Help customers choose the correct type of eyeglasses that best fit their face based on the prescription, shape of face and the patient’s lifestyle. Maintains and displays an understanding of the different types of frames, lenses and lens options available in order to educate the patient to make the best choices that suit their needs and expectations.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Helping customers choose the correct type of frame that best suits the prescription, face shape and needs of the patient.
- Interpret an eyeglass prescription; so correct lens type and lens materials are ordered. Able to educate patient on use of eyewear.
- Take the appropriate measurements required to fabricate a pair of eyeglasses; such as the PD, seg height, OC height and temple length.
- Process the orders to the labs
- Knowledge of Insurance; VSP, Eyemed, etc to process orders and bill appropriately
- Analyze eyewear; trouble shoot eyewear
- Eyeglass repairs; replace screws, nose pads, nylon cords.
- Adjust eyewear to fit properly and comfortably
- Answering optical dept phone line. Returning phone calls to patients, labs etc
- Scheduling optical appointments
- Keep frame boards and dispensary organized and clean
- Contact lens ordering
- Process deposit & payments of eyewear
- Clerical work; organize invoices with monthly statements
- Inventory; frame ordering
