Job Summary:
Join our team as an Ophthalmic Technician and play a vital role in patient care! This position involves hands-on interaction with patients to prepare them for their eye exams, with comprehensive on-the-job training provided.
Key Responsibilities:
- Gather patients' medical and eye health histories.
- Document information using an electronic medical record (EMR) system.
- Prepare examination and treatment rooms.
- Perform preliminary eye tests to assist the doctor, including:
- Visual acuity testing
- Color vision screening
- Auto and manual lensometry
- Auto and manual refraction
- Tonometry
- Amsler grid testing
- Pupil evaluation
- Other diagnostic tests as needed
- Administer eye medications as directed.
- Assist physicians during minor surgical procedures.
- Maintain and calibrate ophthalmic equipment.
- Refill and prescribe medications on behalf of the doctor.
- Handle prior authorizations for patient prescriptions.
- Travel to other locations as required.

Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Medical experience preferred but not required-willing to train the right candidate!
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to sit, stand, bend, reach, stoop, walk, and lift as necessary.
- Sufficient vision, hearing, and communication skills to perform tasks effectively.
- Must be able to drive independently to other facilities as needed.
