Operator – Fermentation/Freeze-Drying Department

Location: Milwaukee
Salary: $40,000 to $50,000 DOE

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Fermentation Equipment Operator to join our fermentation facility. In this role, you will be responsible for the operation of specialized equipment, ensuring that processes run efficiently under the guidance of the Fermentation Manager, Supervisors, and Lead Operator. The ideal candidate will have strong problem-solving skills, mechanical aptitude, and a commitment to maintaining the highest quality standards.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

• Set up and operate Tri-Blender equipment for filling main tanks.
• Perform mix formulation steps for paste tanks.
• Assist in preparing seed vessels.
• Aid in the operation of the CIP (Clean-in-Place) system.
• Help load and unload products from freeze-drying equipment.
• Assist in the operation of granulator equipment and packaging of stock culture.
• Operate the Liquid Nitrogen cabinet, including loading and unloading.
• Support the operation of the pelletizer equipment and manage product crate storage.
• Perform specified cleaning procedures for both equipment and work areas.
• Maintain accurate operations records.
• Assist with monthly inventories of raw materials, frozen mixes, and stock cultures.
• Ensure compliance with HACCP/Preventive Control CCP P1 in granulation for qualified individuals.
• Follow GMP, FAMIqs, and FSMA regulatory requirements in daily tasks.
• Perform other tasks as assigned by the Fermentation Manager, Supervisors, or Lead Operator.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• High School diploma or equivalent required (qualifications may vary at the discretion of the hiring manager).
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Mechanical aptitude with basic math proficiency.
• Keen attention to detail.
• Ability to evaluate situations, make informed decisions, and troubleshoot issues.
• Capable of working effectively in a team-oriented environment.
• Forklift truck driving experience is a plus.
