Job Description
Job Summary/Objective:
The equipment operator’s primary function is to operate horizontal/directional drill and various other equipment at the jobsites. Equipment operators are also expected to assist in other duties around the jobsite as needed. This job operates in a field environment. This role routinely requires extended periods of bending, squatting, climbing, kneeling, pushing, pulling, lifting, lifting in awkward positions, standing, and twisting. Also, this role works in inclement weather conditions, such as extreme heat, extreme cold, rain, ice, snow, and wind.
Key Responsibilities
• Operates various construction equipment (mini excavators, backyard machine, forklift, boom truck, cable puller, digger, horizontal/directional drill, hydro vac, etc.)
• Visually assess digging areas to ensure it has been properly staked/located prior to digging.
• Perform service, safety checks, load securement, check oil and fluids, and minor repairs on equipment.
• Perform laborer duties as needed.
• Read blueprints, organize material, and use other resources as necessary to complete excavation requirements, which may include the use of basic hand tools.
• Responsible for keeping own immediate work area in a neat and orderly condition to ensure safety of entire crew, including self.
• Responsible for reporting any unsafe conditions and/or practices to the appropriate supervisor and People and Culture.
• Expected to immediately correct any unsafe conditions to the best of own ability.
• CDL preferred.
