Position Overview:QinetiQ US’s Defense Modernization business unit is seeking a Junior Operational Research Analyst who will provide comprehensive analytical support to AFIMSC (Air Force Installation and Mission Support Center) in San Antonio, TX, focusing on basic data analytics, tool development, wargaming support, and base resiliency analysis. The analyst will assist in managing and analyzing data, enhancing automation and efficiencies, and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations. Administrative support tasks such as meeting coordination and report writing are also part of the role.
Responsibilities:- Analytical Support
- Assist AFIMSC senior decision-makers by providing analytical support and developing critical insights across the enterprise.
- Perform tasks such as basic simulation, optimization, statistical analysis, regression, data science, decision analysis, performance metric development, risk assessment, scheduling, process improvement, and process automation.
- Use Data Fabric platforms (Envision, VAULT, Advana, Blade, UDL, etc.) and employ operations research analysis using COTs simulation software, SAS, Tableau, Microsoft Power Platform, open-source coding (Python, R, etc.), existing tools developed with Visual Basic, and other available software for tool development and analysis.
- Provide support for wargaming events such as Futures Game (FG), Long Duration Logistics Wargame (LDLW), Global Engagement (GE), etc., including basic modeling and simulation analysis.
- Data Management
- Assist in obtaining necessary data from public domains if not provided by the government and manage government-furnished data, reports, and database access.
- Support enhanced automation, error detection and reduction, data storage and access techniques, and data visualization for reporting.
- Administrative Support
- Capture meeting minutes, schedule meetings, assist with RFIs, report writing, bullet papers, and other project management-related activities.
- Bachelors Degree in Operations Research or Industrial Engineering.
- Alternatively, at least 24 semester hours in a combination of operations research, mathematics, probability, statistics, mathematical logic, science, or subject-matter courses requiring substantial competence in college-level mathematics or statistics. At least 3 of the 24 semester hours must have been in calculus.
- Master’s Degree or Bachelor’s degree plus at least 3 years of experience.
- Located in or able to commute to the San Antonio, TX, area
- Ability to obtain or already possess a SECRET security clearance, based on an investigation completed within the past 5 years.
- Experience supporting AFIMSC or adjacent/subordinate organizations
- Experience with Data Fabric platforms such as Envision, VAULT, Advana, Blade, UDL, etc.
- Proficiency in COTs simulation software, SAS, Tableau, Microsoft Power Platform, open-source coding (Python, R, etc.), and existing tools developed with Visual Basic.
- Familiarity with wargaming events like Futures Game (FG), Long Duration Logistics Wargame (LDLW), Global Engagement (GE), etc.
- Expertise in sustaining existing tools and developing new tools and analysis.
- Demonstrated experience in data analytics and tool development within a government contracting environment.
- Familiarity with various mission and installation support activities in the Air Force to include Housing and Dorms, Security Forces, Environmental Management, Food Services, Child & Youth Programs, MWR Programs, AF Lodging, Deployment and Distribution, Communications Infrastructure, Emergency Services, and Combat and Command Support.
- Experience with advanced analysis and tool development using various software platforms and coding languages.
