Job Summary:
Foster Fuels is searching for an experienced operations leader to help grow the Northern Virgina market. The focus of the Northern Virginia Operations Manager will be to work closely with the Mission Critical leadership team to increase market share and oversee operational management of the location through market penetration/growth, leadership for staff, and efficiency of all assets located in the region.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Directing and coordinating the daily activities of local drivers
- Manage the operations of equipment and assets in the Northern Virginia area conducting day-to-day fuel deliveries across the region.
- Maintain trucks in a cost-effective manner
- Incorporate a culture of safety
- Protect the environment
- Account for all fuel obtained, delivered and sold
- Increase ROI of all assets and opportunities in the Northern Virginia operation of Foster Fuels
- Manage the productivity and performance of a team of drivers, their equipment, and deliveries
- Maintain a direct line of communication with drivers to manage issues or handle changes
- Manage assets and infrastructure for growth of equipment and facilities
- Maintain access to petroleum terminals in the region
- Dispatch fuel trucks to appropriate locations based on customer orders
- Serve as liaison between customers and drivers ensuring effective communications and excellent customer service
- Utilize transportation software programs to monitor and direct drivers and equipment
- Run daily reports and review delivery routes
- Manage the readiness of emergency trucks to ensure availability during an emergency deployment or disaster response
- Perform other duties as assigned
Required Skills:
- Experienced in petroleum distribution and logistics
- Minimum of 3 years in a management role with profit and loss responsibility
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent years of industry experience
- Commercial Driver's License (Class A or B) with Hazmat and Tanker endorsements
- Proficient knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office
- Strong sales aptitude and the ability to lead, coach, and mentor a staff
- Demonstrated vendor management experience
- Strong interpersonal skills for interacting with employees, customers, and vendors
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Familiarity with data analysis and reporting
- Strong work ethic, persistent, and dependable
- Positive and enthusiastic attitude
Physical Requirements:
- Able to safely walk upstairs (e.g., truck racks, etc.), ascend & descend ladders (e.g., storage tanks, tankers, etc.), and work outdoors in all weather conditions.
Schedule:
- Monday to Friday
- Overtime hours as needed, especially during emergency activations.
