Job Details
The Operations Manager of the Automation Department is responsible for leading, supervising, and coordinating a skilled team of professionals to drive the design, installation, integration, and repair of automation equipment. This role involves close collaboration with multiple departments to align the automation team’s efforts with organizational goals. By maintaining project schedules, managing budgets, and upholding company standards, the Operations Manager will ensure that our automation solutions meet the high standards expected by our customers and reflect the core values of our employee-owned culture. This is a fully-onsite position as the work cannot be executed in a remote environment.
Core Responsibilities Include:
- Provide direct leadership to the automation team, setting clear expectations and holding team members accountable for their performance and productivity.
- Foster a positive, collaborative environment that promotes employee engagement, teamwork, and continuous development.
- Conduct regular performance evaluations and implement training initiatives to enhance team skills and efficiency.
- Collaborate with the Sales Department to ensure smooth transition of customer projects from sales to production, overseeing each project from inception through completion.
- Maintain and monitor project timelines to meet deadlines, address any delays promptly, and adjust resources as needed to keep projects on track.
- Ensure all projects adhere to the company’s standards for design, safety, and quality, upholding our commitment to delivering best-in-class solutions.
- Use the company ERP system to gather and analyze data, identifying areas of improvement and implementing changes that support the automation department’s growth and efficiency.
- Track key performance metrics, reporting to leadership on departmental progress and achievements, and adjusting strategies based on data insights.
- Oversee the department’s budget, leveraging historical data to forecast future growth and allocate resources effectively.
- Manage cost-efficiency while meeting departmental goals, providing quarterly reports on budget alignment and resource optimization.
- Develop and uphold company standards for automation design, documentation, programming, and fabrication to ensure consistency and quality across all projects.
- Work alongside other leaders to review and update company standards periodically to adapt to industry trends and customer needs, ensuring continuous improvement in our processes and offerings.

Qualifications:
- 7+ years in Operations Management, Project Management or Automation Management
- Industrial related industry experience
- Strong leadership skills

- Familiarity with ERP system(s)
- Experience in budgeting and data analytics
- Expertise in Automation Processes highly preferred
- A proactive approach to project management
- An ability to foster a collaborative and accountable team environment
- A dedication to delivering high-quality, customer-centric solutions
