- Operations Oversight
- Managing daily operations to ensure projects meet quality, timeline, and safety standards.
- Scheduling crews, following up on project completion, and troubleshooting issues as they arise.
- Overseeing the yard, maintaining equipment, and ensuring all assets are in excellent working condition.
- Ensuring the office is organized and running efficiently, addressing any immediate needs or challenges.
- Estimating and Contracting
- Reading and interpreting blueprints to prepare accurate project estimates.
- Quoting materials, negotiating equipment rentals, and managing cost proposals for projects.
- Negotiating contracts with developers, vendors, and subcontractors to secure the best terms.
- Team Collaboration and Leadership
- Coordinating with accountants, construction managers, and leadership to streamline operations and manage budgets.
- Mentoring and supporting team members to maintain a high-performance workforce.
- Maintaining open and effective communication with developers to ensure project alignment and satisfaction.
- Problem Solving and Process Improvement
- Handling unexpected issues ('putting out fires') that may arise during projects.
- Identifying opportunities for operational improvements to enhance efficiency and growth.
- Experience: Proven background in operations management, particularly in underground utilities or construction.
- Technical Skills: Strong proficiency in reading blueprints, estimating projects, and understanding job quoting processes.
- Leadership Abilities: Effective organizational and leadership skills to manage crews, projects, and operations simultaneously.
- Communication Skills: Excellent interpersonal skills to build relationships with teams, vendors, and clients.
- Adaptability: A solutions-oriented mindset with the ability to handle multiple responsibilities and prioritize effectively.
- Additional Skills: Knowledge of equipment and material management, with a knack for contract negotiation.
