About the Job
Join our dynamic team as an Operations Manager and play a pivotal role in ensuring our museum operates seamlessly while delivering extraordinary visitor experiences. This leadership position oversees various operational aspects including visitor services, the gift shop, birthday parties, exhibits, and facilities management. You will work closely with the Executive Director and Education Manager, contributing to the museum’s mission and strategic goals. The role requires availability to work at least two weekends per month.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and oversee the Visitor Services and Special Events teams to ensure excellent guest experiences.
- Handle day-to-day operations such as scheduling, staff training, and performance evaluations.
- Collaborate with the Executive Director to plan and execute fundraising events.
- Partner with the Education Manager on class sales and mission alignment.
- Maintain and enhance exhibits and facilities to ensure safety and engagement.
- Assist in budgeting and managing operational finances.
- Develop and implament policies to uphold service quality and safety.
- Address visitor inquiries and issues, promoting an inclusive environment.
- Coordinate with Marketing and Development departments to streamline operations.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in organizational management, museum studies, anthropology or a related field.
- At least 3 years of operations management or guest services experience, preferably in a museum, zoo, or similar setting.
- Proven leadership with ability to manage diverse teams.
- Strong organizational and budget management skills.
- Excellent communication abilities.
- Experience in event planning and coordination a plus.
