Position Overview:
The Sr. Operations Engineer is responsible for driving process improvement and standardization across the DC network. This role serves as a subject matter expert in warehousing data analytics, developing standards, policies and procedures, and other approaches improve DC operations. The Sr. Operations Engineer will coordinate performance measurement and improvement projects related to productivity improvement, cost reduction, and process optimization. They will complete their activities across multiple sites in the North American DC network.
Essential Functions:
--Analyze projects aimed at upgrading DC systems, equipment and processes to drive improvements in all areas of performance, quality, safety, delivery, customer satisfaction, budgetary plan, etc.
--Perform time studies and develop standards within Vestis labor management system, to support operations performance pay initiatives
--Develop reporting to update senior executive on operational performance and project status, dependencies and roadblocks
--Demonstrate a high level of urgency and nimbleness to respond to internal and external customers in response to changing business needs.
--Collect, analyze and draw conclusions from large, complex datasets; present findings in a visual and succinct format
--Drive automation and efficient collection of data to develop Tableau reporting supporting all DC’s within the Vestis supply chain
--Drive Lean Warehousing principles to improve production, efficiencies.
--Oversee and execute projects like distribution center layout changes, equipment and space needs and utilization, capital expenses, major repairs, etc
--Establishes relationships that will strengthen the company’s position to support operations, drive cost reductions, improve lead times, and ensure that quality standards are met.
--May lead others either within the Distribution Center network or in a cross-functional team.
Knowledge/Skills and Experience:
--4-6 years engineering experience in a warehouse or manufacturing environment
--Project and cross functional leadership experience.
--Experience with warehouse management systems
--Experience with business intelligence software (e.g. Tableau)
--Experience leading cross-functional teams
--BA/BS in engineering or business field required.
Management / Professional Profile:
--Excellent data analysis and presentation skills
--Deep understanding of the operations management, continuous improvement, warehouse layout and design
--Strong organizational and project management skills.
--Performs work with a strong sense of urgency
--Ability to think, plan and implement strategically
--Technologically adept; ability to envision and oversee the implementation of technological solutions.
--Willingness and ability to travel nationally extensively.
