Operations Assistant Manager Job Summary:
Responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the automotive assembly plant, ensuring efficient production, maintaining safety standards, and meeting production goals. This role involves managing teams, optimizing processes, maintaining equipment, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement. The Operations Assistant Manager ensures that all production activities align with company goals, regulatory standards, and customer expectations. The operations assistant manager works directly with other department leaders to ensure successful operation of the site during their assigned shift.
Operations Assistant Manager Responsibilities:
- Oversee daily operations of the Texas Assembly and RSC processes.
- Lead, manage, and mentor a diverse team of Group leaders, Team leaders and Team Members.
- Monitor KPI’s and ensure that production targets are met.
- Foster a culture of teamwork, safety, and continuous improvement.
- Monitors production processes and makes adjustments to improve efficiency, quality, and output.
- Coordinate with materials departments to ensure the timely supply of lineside materials.
- Ensure adherence to production standards and company quality control measures.
- Identify opportunities for cost reduction, waste elimination, and efficiency improvements.
- Implement lean manufacturing principles, Six Sigma, or other process improvement methodologies.
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal safety and environmental regulations.
- Enforce plant safety policies and procedures.
- Promote a safety-first culture and lead regular safety meetings and training.
- Communicate with maintenance teams to ensure equipment is operational.
- Conduct performance evaluations and provide coaching for career development.
- Work closely with the customer teams to address client needs and ensure on-time delivery of products.
- Collaborate on new product launches and production changes based on customer demands.
- Prepare and present reports on production performance, safety, and financial outcomes to senior management.
- Communicate effectively with all levels of the organization to ensure alignment with strategic goals.
- Implement departmental policies, goals, objectives or procedures in conjunction with executive officers, organization officials, and staff members.
- Represents the company in the community and promotes the company’s goodwill and interests in community activities.
- Other duties as assigned.
Production Control Specialist Knowledge & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, manufacturing, business administration, or a related field. 5+ years of Automotive experience in a similar role could be considered in lieu of academic requirements.
- Minimum of 8-10 years in automotive manufacturing or assembly.
- Proven experience in management or senior operations role.
- Strong understanding of lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, and process improvement techniques.
- Excellent leadership and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong understanding and commitment to quality, health, safety and environmental management systems
- Ability to create a climate of inclusion to motivate employees to do their best.
- Self-motivated with excellent organizational, analytical, problem solving and leadership skills.
- Strong PC skills, including proficiency with Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
