We are currently seeking a talented and motivated Operations Analyst 1 for a Full-Time position.
The Operations Center Technician position is responsible for monitoring system alerts in a 24/7/365 Operations Center. Based on the alerts, the technician would be responsible for performing documented steps or escalating the alert. Job responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
- Monitor alerts on screens and the operation of all operating system platforms running in the data center with limited direct supervision. This includes UNIX, Linux, Windows, and IBM Z/OS Mainframe.
- Monitor the batch flow of all scheduling systems in the data center to ensure their respected job schedule is completed within the processing window.
- Determine severity of problem, issue, or alarm and initiates problem resolution as appropriate, following standard escalation procedures for incident/problem tracking and resolution. Interact with support personnel on problem resolution.
- Initiate critical incident alerts.
- Initiate and facilitate critical incident communication protocols according to documented standards and SLA’s.
- Inform Shift Supervisor of problems encountered during shift. Document in the daily journal and verbally turn over to next shift any issues or problems that may have occurred.
- Recommend and implement process/procedure improvements that will increase efficiency or improve consistency of services. Document new and updated operating procedures in the proper repository.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot backup and device failures, attempt resolution in accordance with documented SOPs and troubleshooting guides.
- Adapts to a variety of non-standard procedures that may include the introduction of new programs and equipment.
- Familiar with all normal operating procedures and capable of implementing non-standard, unique, complex procedures independently.
- Provides Help Desk support after hours and on weekends.
- Monitor and maintain a secure environment for the Data Center.
- Contact vendor service personnel when hardware failure demands immediate action.
- Support multiple customers at the required service level agreements.
- Assist during the Unix patching
- User account management
Qualifications:
- Ability to work in a 24x7x365 environment
- Attention to detail
- Ability to follow processes
- Occasional alternate shift coverage to fill in for vacations/sick time
- Authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship
- Must be able to pass the Public Trust Government background investigation
- Strong communication skills (both written and oral)
- Ability to work closely with a small team
- Ability to work in a high stress environment
Required skills:
- Strong computer skills
- Terminal/command prompt experience
- Familiarity with z/OS environment.
- Basic Unix/Linux skills
- Basic knowledge of networked environments
- Familiarity with Google Apps
- Familiarity BMC Proactive Net and Control-M
- Ability to troubleshoot problems
- Proficient with incident ticketing systems (Remedy or ServiceNow)
