Key Responsibilities of the Operational Controller:
- Lead the Accounting team to ensure accurate financial statements and timely reporting to HQ.
- Ensure compliance with HQ reporting requirements and accounting policies; prepare accurate US GAAP and IFRS financial statements.
- Drive consistency across US and Canada operations.
- Assess current accounting operations, implement process improvements, and develop metrics to monitor effectiveness.
- Act as the key liaison for External Audits, ensuring an efficient and discrepancy-free audit process.
- Develop and document business processes to strengthen internal controls.
- Assist the VP and Accounting Director with projects, including new accounting standards adoption.
- Lead, mentor, and train direct reports; manage accounting operations (AR, AP, and Cash Management) and report on KPIs.
- Monitor and report cycle time for month-end close and the value of benefits from process improvements.
Preferred Qualifications of the Operational Controller:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or equivalent experience.
- 10+ years of experience in accounting for commercial loans and leases.
- CPA is a plus.
- Strong knowledge of US GAAP (required) and IFRS (preferred).
- Good understanding of internal control processes and documentation.
- Process-oriented with the ability to understand and integrate distinct operations.
