Overview
Reporting to the Center of Excellence (COE) - Rotating Equipment Group, in Tonawanda, NY USA, the Online Vibration Monitoring (OVM) Systems Engineer supports online vibration monitoring programs for rotating equipment. This role interfaces with all key operations, reliability, IT, engineering, and business departments globally, supporting regional organizations to maintain and improve the reliability of rotating equipment and meet desired performance goals.
Duties
- Manage Vibration Data Logger VDL program, ensuring systems uptime and updates.
- Support regions in implementing and troubleshooting the VDL systems (hardware & software).
- Support the implementation of the ECM+VDL program.
- Support other engineering tasks, as needed.
- This position requires mostly remote work, with occasional office work at Linde’s offices in Tonawanda, NY. Accessibility during off-hours (laptop and cell phone) is occasionally required.
- The candidate must be a hands-on self-starter, able to work with minimal supervision.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (e.g., Mechanical, Electrical, and IT).
- Advanced computer skills (Microsoft Office, Network Settings, etc.).
- Must possess excellent verbal and written communication, team interaction, and presentation skills.
- Knowledge of mechanical and electrical equipment and systems.
- Familiarity with vibration analysis.
- Ability to work in the US-Eastern Time zone
Desired Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering with 3+ years of experience in turbomachinery mechanical maintenance, overhauls, and repair techniques in the air separation process environment.
- Expert knowledge of turbomachinery condition monitoring methodologies and technologies, particularly vibration analysis techniques and related instrumentation installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
- Knowledge of vibration monitoring programs; e.g., Emerson/CSI’s Machinery Health Manager, EZ-Tomas, ADRE, and Bently Nevada System 1.
- Hands-on experience with operating, testing, and/or commissioning mechanical equipment.
- Experience with data management (e.g., SQL) and visualization (e.g., Tableau) tools.
- Category III vibration analyst certification (Vibration Institute) or equivalent.
