Job Summary
Direct supervision of maintenance employees and on-site contractors to ensure that plant production operations are kept running at maximum efficiencies with as little unscheduled downtime as possible and maintenance issues throughout the facility are identified and repaired in a cost effective, safe and timely manner. Ensure that all safety programs and procedures are properly communicated, implemented and followed by the maintenance employees and contractors. Works with the Plant Engineer to generate and implement ideas for reducing costs and increasing production. Helps make selection of proper replacement equipment purchases and assist with the annual capital projects.
Minimum Qualifications
High School Diploma
15 years of job related experience required.
Computer: SAP, word processing, spreadsheet.
Maintenance: Mechanical aptitude, troubleshooting, basic electrical and electronics.

Job Duties
- Provides direct supervision of maintenance employees in the daily maintenance and repair requirements of the facility to ensure safe and timely completion of work assignments. Prioritize and assign work orders to the proper personnel and provide follow up review of the completed work orders. Perform weekly documented safety meetings with the maintenance employees. Work as needed with contractors on facility projects to ensure safe and timely completion according to design specifications. Keeps plant engineer informed of problems or delays.
- Works closely with various suppliers via verbal and written communications to insure purchases are made for the correct replacement parts on packaging equipment as well as proper selection of materials for expansion projects. Analyze critical parts requirements and maintain the proper parts inventory for all production and support equipment.
- Support production operations on an emergency (24/7) and routine basis by diagnosing and making recommendations for resolutions of mechanical and electrical problems in the production facility. Communicate and consult with plant personnel to identify issues and recommend changes to improve production efficiency and reduce cost. Make recommendations to plant engineer for implementing these solutions and assisting with cost analysis if situation requires significant expenditures of capital or expense funds.
- Generate maintenance budget reports for management review. Audit maintenance department material requisitions for pricing accuracy. Apply correct cost center codes and release requisitions to the purchasing department.
- Responsible for assisting the Plant Engineer in setting the Maintenance Department annual expense budget and reporting monthly expenditures for the department. Also responsible for assisting with the annual plant capital budget forecast
- Responsible for providing human resources and training functions for the maintenance employees through hiring of new employees, performance reviews, setting performance goals, disciplining employees as necessary and ensuring proper training.
