Senior Accountant & Office Manager
Seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented professional to join our team as a Senior Accountant & Office Manager. This dual-role position combines advanced accounting expertise with office management responsibilities, making it ideal for someone who thrives in a dynamic and collaborative environment. The successful candidate will oversee financial and accounting functions (including overseeing an India-based accounting and reporting group), ensure compliance with accounting standards, provide timely and accurate accounting and management reporting, and manage day-to-day office functions to ensure smooth business operations. This position reports directly to the CFO.
Key Responsibilities:
Accounting and Financial Management
• Prepare, review, and analyze financial statements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with GAAP or cash basis accounting as applicable
• Manage the monthly, quarterly, and annual closing processes, including reconciliations and journal entries, along with attention to classing and account coding
• Oversee accounts payable and receivable, compliance filings, and tax filings
• Develop and monitor budgets, forecasts, and financial plans
• Provide management reports that assess the performance of the two businesses
• Provide ongoing cost accounting analysis to insure proper pricing at both businesses
• Perform variance analysis and provide actionable insights to senior management
• Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal tax regulations
• Develop and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) for different aspects of the two businesses. SOPs are housed in a shared Google Drive so that they’re accessible to others who need access to them.
• Assist in managing relationships with external auditors, tax advisors, and other financial consultants
Office Management
• Manage the day-to-day office operations, including vendor and tenant relationships, external inquiries, ordering various supplies for the facility, and internal coordination
• Serve as the primary point of contact for office-related inquiries and problem
Oversee accounting and administrative staff based in Ahmedabad, India, including hiring, training, and performance reviews as needed
• Manage company policies, procedures, and documentation with assistance from staff
• Assist in planning company events, meetings, and other activities
Cross-Functional Support
• Support senior leadership at each business with financial reporting and operational analysis
• Clearly communicate with staff at all levels and at different businesses
• Identify opportunities to improve efficiency in both accounting and operations
Qualifications
• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. CPA or equivalent certification is preferred
• Experience: Minimum of 5-7 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 2 years in a senior role. Previous experience in office management or administration is a plus.
Skills:
o Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, and sales tax, with working knowledge of tax regulations
o Proficiency in accounting software (preferably QuickBooks) and advanced Excel skills
o Excellent organizational and time management skills
o Strong leadership and interpersonal abilities to manage staff, vendor, and tenant relationships
o Detail-oriented with the ability to multitask and prioritize tasks effectively
