About the Job
Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Accounting Clerk to join our finance team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for performing a variety of accounting and clerical tasks to support the financial operations of the organization. This includes maintaining financial records, processing transactions, and assisting with reporting and budgeting.
Key Responsibilities:
Maintain Financial Records
- Assist with maintaining accurate and up-to-date accounting records, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger entries.
Data Entry
- Accurately input financial transactions into accounting software, ensuring all data is correctly coded and categorized.
Invoice Processing
- Process invoices, purchase orders, and payments. Ensure timely and accurate payment to vendors and suppliers.
Reconciliation
- Reconcile bank statements, credit card transactions, and general ledger accounts regularly to ensure accuracy.
Prepare Reports
- Assist in preparing financial reports, such as balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements. Help prepare internal reports for budgeting and forecasting.
Assist with Audits
- Provide necessary documentation and support during internal and external audits.
Communicate with Vendors and Clients
- Respond to inquiries from vendors, suppliers, and clients regarding payments and accounts.
File and Organize Documents
- Ensure all accounting records, invoices, receipts, and other documents are properly filed and organized for easy access.
Compliance and Regulations
- Ensure compliance with accounting policies, industry standards, and government regulations.
Other Duties as Assigned
- Provide general administrative support to the accounting department, as needed.
Qualifications:
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent required. Associate's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred.
Experience
- Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in an accounting or bookkeeping role.
Skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
- Experience with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Xero, or similar).
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Knowledge
- Understanding of basic accounting principles and practices.
Certifications
- Certification in accounting or bookkeeping (e.g., Bookkeeper certification) is a plus but not required.
Work Environment:
- Office-based
- The position is based in an office environment with typical office hours.
- Team Collaboration
- The accounting clerk will collaborate closely with other members of the finance team and other departments.
