- JOB PURPOSE:
The position of Miller 4th English/ History office assistant requires someone who has the ability to work efficiently and independently. A self-starter who can assume responsibility for daily tasks. They should be able to multi-task and be flexible to the changing needs of both the English and the History departments, and happy to assist all fourth floor faculty, staff, and students. Responsibilities include working on department newsletters, designing posters/flyers, communicating departmental news using social media sites, errands, restocking office and common area supplies, copying/ scanning, data entry, and more. Ideal candidates bring warmth, professionalism, and curiosity to the post as well as a desire to encourage students, visitors, faculty, and staff and make them feel welcome in the Miller 4th community. Quick learners with strong interpersonal skills who are good at incorporating feedback as well as assisting with events are of particular interest.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assistance with office management, including stocking supplies, general atmosphere, etc.
- Assistance with event management for both departments
- Design, writing, and editorial assistance with documents including department newsletters (in coordination with Administrative Coordinator and department chairs)
- Spreadsheet, and organizational planning assistance
- Copying/Scanning
- Errands
SCHEDULE:
- 4-8 hours per week.
RATE OF PAY:
- $15.95 per hour
WORK STUDY AND ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:
- Federal or L&C Work Study preferred
- Declared English and History majors preferred
- Current first-year and second-year students preferred
- Must be invited to apply by either the English or History departments
