As the second shift supervisor, you will supervise manufacturing operation of assigned department by implementing operation strategies that guide an assigned department to achieve business results; primarily focused on working with department leadership and employees to achieve production and quality goals while maintaining a safe working environment at all times.
An effective supervisor you will possess a certain set of skills directly corelated to your area of assignment. You should be a confident leader who can successfully and continuously motivate your teams.
This role is responsible for personnel and productivity management on 2nd shift.
You will be a part of the Operations leadership team and will be responsible for conducting effective tie-ins with first shift supervisors.
The second shift work hours are 3 pm to 11:30 pm Monday through Friday with occasional weekends.
Job Description Details
- Support department mission and actionable performance plans cascaded throughout the team
- Oversee the production processes and ensure availability of necessary material, equipment, and labor resources required for the OEM team to meet customer demands
- Implement action plans to ensure a cost-effective and high-quality production
- Oversee the OEM line operations to comply with production schedule, quality standards, and ensure safety policies are met
- Oversee the day-to-day training and operations of technical production employees to ensure a competent workforce
- Report on needed maintenance of production equipment and machines to ensure efficient operations
- Liaise with the quality assurance team to ensure product quality and specifications are consistent
- Collaborate with Engineering, Customer Account Managers and Quality to ensure the OTD and TAT of our products
- Identify process/equipment improvements to drive continuous improvement actions
- Continuously manage and review employee performance
- Achieve production objectives for schedule, cost and quality
- Acknowledge and enforce compliance on goals and aggressive schedules for improvement
- Manage department KPI’s, operational metrics and report on results
- Proactively recognize and solve challenges affecting current and future ability to achieve production objectives.
- Adhere and maintain compliance with operations budgets and business plan to attain production and shipping goals
- Produce and present operational performance reports to leadership team
Requirements
Roles and Responsibilities
- Provide leadership and direction to the plant production team members in areas of safety, machine operation, sanitation, quality, customer service and maintenance.
- Maintain a clear understanding of company expectations for accuracy, quality and timelessness and develop methods for meeting or exceeding those expectations.
- Review production orders or schedules to ascertain product data such as types, quantities, and specifications of products and scheduled delivery dates in order to plan department operations.
- Ensure that quality standards are maintained and continually improved upon.
- Implement continuous improvement processes that increase productivity and reduce production costs.
- Ensure the preventative maintenance program is implemented throughout the facility, including manufacturing equipment and warehouse equipment.
- Maintain a clean and safe working environment in the plant with a high standard on housekeeping.
- Find decision-making process that helps you make smart yet quick decisions.
- Use critical thinking skills to weigh your options and predict the best possible outcomes.
- Use creative strategies to solve issues and be flexible in unexpected circumstances.
- Support your team during challenging situations, and encourage them to work toward their goals.

Qualifications
- 5 Years of progressive management/supervisor/lead experience in a manufacturing environment

Preferred Skills
- Knowledge of AS9100 regulatory requirements, FAA Repair Station requirements
- Experience and Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Sheet metal fabrication, machining, welding, brazing and/or assembly experience is preferred.
- Minimum 3 years experience in a supervisory role
- Minimum 5 year experience in manufacturing
- High school diploma/GED is required
- Must be goal oriented, organized and have strong organizational skills
- Must be a “hands on” leader. This is not an “office” position.

Physical Demands
- Stand or Sit: Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time.
- Walk: Ability to move about inside the building to access assets, manufacturing shop floor, office machinery, etc.
- Use Hands/Fingers to Handle or Feel: Constantly operates office and manufacturing machinery
- Climb (Stairs/Ladders) or Balance: Ascends/descends ladders to access inventory and other assets in warehouse.
- Stoop, Kneel, Crouch, or Crawl: Routinely need to perform these functions as required
- Talk/Hear: Frequently communicates with coworkers, customers, and vendors who have inquiries about work orders, inventory levels, asset orders, and deliveries. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
- See: Must be able to perceive, identify, and inspect documents and inventory assets. Must be able to drive.
- Carry Weight/Lift: Frequently moves inventory and completed assets weighing up to 50 pounds.
Environment:
- Climate controlled manufacturing environment.
- While performing the duties of this job, you are occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, oil, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals (Appropriate PPE is provided).
- The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
