A top-notch, specialized school in New York City is currently seeking a licensed part-time Occupational Therapist (OT) for A recognized education network in New York is looking to add a licensed Occupational Therapist (OT) to join one of their specialty schools in the Bronx on a Part-time basis. In this role, the Occupational Therapist (OT) will be responsible for providing direct occupational therapy services to students with multiple disabilities and visual impairments to improve sensory processing, attention, self-help skills, fine motor skills, perceptual motor skills, motor coordination, and instrumental activities of daily living and community skills.
About the Opportunity:
- Schedule: 2 days a week
- Hours: 8:20am to 3:30pm
- Setting: School
- Population: Visually Impaired Pediatrics
Responsibilities:
The Occupational Therapist (OT) will:
- Perform evaluations (initial, annual, triennial) and make recommendations for goals and mandates, as appropriate
- Improve neuromuscular functioning including range of motion, muscle tone, strength, endurance, balance, and coordination
- Improve sensory processing and sensory integration to maximize attention and participation in self-care and community activities
- Assess and recommends adaptive equipment and orthotic devices as needed
- Structure intervention to meet goals and objectives on student's IEP
- Organize and keep records related to student attendance, student progress, and Medicaid/IDEA mandated documentation
- Implement IEP goals, behavior intervention programs, curriculum development, parent relations
- Participate in regular team and departmental meetings, supervisory meetings, school and instructional meetings and staff development days as required
- Perform other duties, as needed
Qualifications:
- NYS Occupational Therapist (OT) license
- Experience working in a School / Pediatric setting
- Experience working with students with special needs
- Solid assessment and documentation skills
Desired Skills:
- Experience working with students with blindness/visual impairment and multiple disabilities
