Overview:
The OB/GYN Coordinator will work directly with the Lead Physician of Obstetrics & Gynecology and is responsible for enhancing quality and patient-centered care at MedCura Health. Collaborates with subject matter experts and other leaders to create an environment of teamwork that supports improved outcomes and service of the Obstetric patients. This position will have a variety of administrative and leadership tasks.
Qualifications:- High school diploma or equivalent, associate degree in business administration or healthcare administration preferred.
- At least two (2) years in a medical office as a Medical Assistant or Medical Coder.
- Minimum of three (3) years Patient Access and charge entry required.
- Minimum of two (2) years supervisory experience preferred.
- Knowledge of current procedural terminology, ICD-10 coding, and other related billing policies and procedures.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Registered or Certified Medical Assistant preferred.
- Knowledge of medical office procedures.
- Prior experience of procedure and/or surgery scheduling.
- Thorough knowledge of medical terminology.
- Proficiency in athenaOne EHR.
- Experience with insurance benefits and eligibility.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and customer service skills.
- Excellent phone etiquette.
- Working expertise of the Microsoft Office programs including Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and Outlook.
- Collect and report key data volume such as provider OB deliveries, OB patients entering care, transfers miscarriages/terminations of pregnancy, and post-partum follow-up and assigned dashboard metrics.
- Track patient's adherence with plan of care, protocol deviations, and communicate outcomes to providers.
- Contacts non-compliant Obstetric patients to facilitate follow up.
- Follow up with no shows or transfer patients to determine reasoning and reschedule patient.
- Collect delivery notes and conduct post-partum calls for scheduling within the established time frame.
- Meticulously document all interactions in the electronic health record (EHR) system while ensuring the confidentiality of all patient information
- Monitor referral details and appointment arrangements are communicated to patients needing specialist or external medical visits.
- Execute various administrative tasks, required to support clinic outcomes and financial goals for Obstetric department.
- Stays up to date with knowledge of Obstetrical regulatory affairs and protocols.
- Assists Patient Access Manager to define duties and responsibilities of OB/GYN Patient Access staff; assigns work, monitors progress of work, and ensures timely completion of assigned tasks. Monitors and reviews provider schedules daily for scheduling accuracy and ensuring providers schedules are full to reach the monthly productivity goals for each OB/GYN provider.
- Assists Patient Access Manager with the coordination of appointment rescheduling for OB/GYN provider(s) based on planned or unplanned absences to ensure patient OB routine care is maintained.
- Assists with OB/GYN Patient Access departmental workflow as needed, ensures timely registrations by staff, and attends all OB/GYN departmental meetings.
- Maintains thorough understanding of insurance, registration, scheduling, referrals, authorizations, and account follow-up.
- Provide excellent customer service.
