About the Job
NYSUT, located in Latham, New York, seeks an onsite Assistant Manager of Human Resources. The successful candidate will assist leading the operational aspects of the HR Department, ensuring smooth execution of HR processes, systems, and policies. Experience collaborating with a Unionized workforce and Collective Bargaining Agreements, is essential. This position will develop talent sourcing strategies that align with NYSUT’s union values, mission, and culture.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Oversee Officer, Cabinet, Board of Directors, Employee, Retiree, and Affiliate health & welfare benefits.
- Oversee NYSUT payroll and manage NYSUT Payroll Accountant.
- Knowledge of and oversight for NYSUT 401k and NYSUT Employee Retirement Plan.
- Strong knowledge of HR practices, policies, and employment laws, with proven experience in HR technology systems (HRIS) and data analytics tools.
- Lead Recruitment.
- Along with the Manager of Human Resources, provide guidance and support to HR team members, ensuring they deliver high-quality service to internal stakeholders. HR Lead for all HR training and HR compliance matters.
- Continuously evaluate and improve HR processes to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
- Implement new HR processes, leveraging available technologies, ensuring proper utilization across the organization.
- Assist the NYSUT Executive Director, NYSUT Cabinet, Officers, and NYSUT Leadership with projects, other duties, and responsibilities.
Qualifications:
- Ability to manage confidential information with great sensitivity and discretion.
- Demonstrated interpersonal communication, writing, and organization skills.
- Experience managing self-funded benefit programs.
- Accounting skills related to Benefits, Payroll, Pension, and 401k.
- Strong computer skills (O365, Outlook, Zoom, MS Teams) Advanced Excel, and Power Business Intelligence.
- Advanced Human Resource Information Systems (UKG) and Power Business Intelligence report writer required.
- Strategic thinking, change management, and analytical skills required.
- Benefit Communications.
- Willing and able to work or be available during irregular hours or on weekends if/when necessary.
- Human Resources and/or Payroll Certification, required.
- 5 or more years Human Resources and payroll experience.
- Advanced knowledge of benefits and benefit plan administration is required.
