NURSING SUPERVISOR
Job Summary:
Within the framework of the objectives and policies established by the Company, the Nursing Supervisor is responsible of planning and coordinating clinical services with regards to patient care. The Nursing Supervisor is also responsible for administrative duties, clinical care, resources management, and oversight of the Quality Improvement Program.
Essential Functions:
Maintains compliance with all Agency clinical and administrative policies, procedures and regulatory requirements.
Responsible for Agency evaluating and supervising all licensed professional homecare staff.
Ensures the appropriate assignments of personnel to meet the specific need of an individual client.
Ensures the quality of patient care and service by using specialized knowledge and judgement to assure that professional standards are following applicable New York State Department of Health Practice Acts and Agency policies.
Supervises development and updating of the care plan or paraprofessional task sheets.
Obtains the necessary physician orders for the home care cases as required by New York State regulations as applicable.
Ensures the changes in the patient's medical or mental condition are reported to the attending physician.
Coordinates arrangements with other health care and equipment providers.
Maintains clinical records in accordance with Agency policy as well as New York State and Federal regulations as applicable.
Provides orientation and in-service education for Personal Care Assistants, Homemakers, and Professional Staff Personnel.
Participates in quality improvement activities and evaluations of the Agency.
Investigates problems, irregularities, policy violations and other reportable events.
Other duties as assigned by the Administrator.
Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Availability
One year of supervisory or home health nurse experience preferred.
Currently licensed in good standing as a Registered Nurse by the New York State Board of Nursing.
Meets the health requirements for employees providing direct patient care.
Read, write, speak and understand English as needed for the job.
Current CPR certification.
Have a valid driver's license and use of an insured automobile or access to adequate transportation.
The Supervisor shall always be available during the hours of operation of the Agency for emergencies or situations where professional clinical decisions are needed.
Working Conditions/Environment:
Works both in office and in patients' homes as required for supervisory and assessments visits.
