Job Summary
- The Internal Agency RN is a system-level critical care nurse who provides direct and individualized care to acutely and critically ill patients, in a highly technical and ongoing monitoring environment across all Critical Care Units in the organization. This position will be scheduled per system nursing needs, including weekends and holidays, and thus will be required to maintain a high level of flexibility during the scheduling process.
The critical care nurse is responsible for managing the care of the adult or geriatric patient experiencing general medical conditions or general surgical procedures. They assess the patient’s condition, perform diagnostic tests, begin treatments and assist doctors with any required medical procedures. The critical care nurse monitors and adjusts specialized equipment, interprets and records electronic displays; i.e. intracranial pressures, central venous pressures, pulmonary artery pressures, cardiac rhythms, ventilator settings, etc.
Job Requirements
- Education
- Required: Graduate of an accredited nursing program or NLN approved programPreferred: Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing
- Experience
- Required: 2 years nursing experience in critical carePreferred: 3 years nursing experience in critical care
