(BAMSI) was incorporated on March 21, 1975 as South Shore Multi-Services Inc., under Chapter 180 of the Massachusetts General Laws, as a not-for-profit human service organization. On July 9, 1975, it changed its name to Brockton Area Multi-Services, Inc. It was formed for the development, coordination, and delivery of integrated human service programs, and according to its website, its mission is “to empower people and enrich their lives, through compassionate support and diverse services, one individual, one family a time.” BAMSI employees up to 2,000 people and operates adult, child, and family services, assisting approximately 30,000 individuals each year in Worcester, Middlesex, Norfolk, Bristol, and Plymouth Counties.

Responsibilities:General Statement of Duties:
Oversee the medical and nursing supports provided within assigned day and residential programs. Provide clinical supervision to nursing staff. Work collaboratively with team members to ensure the delivery of quality services. Provide ongoing trainings.
Direct Care & Coordination of Medical Services:
- Identify health related needs, monitor medical status and work with staff, physicians and allied health professionals to formulate, coordinate and implement medical treatment plans for all individuals served.
- Provide clinical and administrative oversight to programs regarding DPH Medication Administration procedures, protocols and compliance. Act as a MAP trainer and consultant.
- Monitor the administer medications and treatments as prescribed, ensuring adherence to funders’ regulations, CARF, and DPH regulations.
- Provide concise, accurate, and timely medical updates on individuals served to stakeholders including funders, guardians, and BAMSI team members.
- Provide coverage at day habilitation programs or other residential programs as needed.
- Ensure medications, medical and safety supplies are available as needed.
- Coordinate and delegate responsibilities affiliated with hospital admissions and discharges using a collaborative approach.
- Provide physical support, assistance with lifting and transferring individuals served who have physical challenges as needed.
- Work with partnering home health agencies to secure assessments, therapies and equipment for individuals served.
- Participate in the planning and oversight of programs in the absence of a Nurse Manager.
Staff Management & Development:
- Assist with interviewing and hiring nurses within the program.
- Identify and provide training to nurses and direct care staff.
- Provide MAP and agency wide in-services and trainings as needed. Must be a MAP Trainer within 6 months of hire.
- Collaborate with Assistant Directors to provide supervision and conduct performance appraisals of assigned RNs and LPNs in the day and residential system.
- Provide 24 hour on-call, on a rotating basis, to ensure nursing coverage, provide medical support, and access to resources.
- Attend and coordinate meetings within the cluster.
- In conjunction with staffing coordinators, hire, train, evaluate and supervise the assigned staff.
- Collaborate with staffing coordinator to ensure that the centralized system for coordinating nursing coverage is implemented effectively.
- Approve bi-weekly time cards, including the management of holiday coverage.
- Review and update job descriptions as indicated.
EDUCATION/CREDENTIALS:
- Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license in state of residence.
EXPERIENCE:
- A minimum of five (5) years nursing experience or three (3) years supervisory experience required.
- Knowledge of the theories, methods, procedures and practices of nursing care.
- Two years experience working with individuals with disabilities preferred.
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:
- Basic computer literacy, including the ability to record data, use electronic time and attendance software, receive and send electronic mail, work with the agency approved electronic health care record is required.
- Effective critical thinking, communication and writing skills.
- Must possess strong organizational, time management, interpersonal skills and the ability to prioritize responsibilities and work within a team environment.
- Ability to push, pull and lift at least 25 lbs.
