Nurse Manager Duties and Responsibilities:

• Directs and supervises Unit Managers, RN Supervisors and Charge Nurses RN/LPN in effectively accomplishing their duties.
• Acts as liaison between Director of Nursing Services and Unit Managers/RN Supervisors/Charge Nurses RN/LPN
• Acts as a resource person in all areas of resident care.
• Assumes responsibility for coordinating Medical Director/Medical Staff/Consulting Physician rounds.
• Ensures that nursing services staffing needs and schedules are met.
• Assists in the interpretation of facility nursing policies and ensures implementation of these policies.
• Assists in recruitment and selection of nursing services employees.
• Assumes all responsibilities of the Director of Nursing Services in his/her absence.
• Responsible for documenting disciplinary concerns for RN Supervisors and Charge Nurses RN/LPN.
• Verifies that significant clinical developments are reported to the resident's physician and family.
• Ensures Medicare guidelines are met.
• Salaried pay

Nurse Manager Requirements:

• Must possess valid unencumbered, LPN/RN State License. Nursing degree from an accredited college or university preferred.
• Minimum three (3) years of clinical nursing experience within a hospital, nursing care center or other related healthcare setting.
• Must have experience in supervision and principles, practice of teaching, etc.
• Experience in rehabilitative and restorative nursing practices strongly preferred.
• Must demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age-related needs of the residents served.
• Must be a supportive team member, contribute to and be an example of team work and team concept.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel, and the general public.
• Must be knowledgeable of nursing and medical practices and procedures, as well as laws, regulations, and guidelines that pertain to nursing care facilities.
• Associate degree in nursing, public health, epidemiology, clinical laboratory science, medical technology or related field.
• Has completed specialized training in infection prevention and control.
• Certification in Infection Control and Epidemiology preferred.
