Salary Range: $22.9500 - $35.2700 /hour. Actual compensation may vary based on geographic location, work experience, skill level, and education.
As a valuable member of the Staffing Office at Hoag Memorial Hospital, Newport Beach, you’ll maintain clerical organization within the unit, and help the team create a Patient-Centered Care environment. Being a Hoag Nurse Staffing Coordinator means having strong customer service and multi-tasking skills, and the professionalism needed to handle sensitive patient information. Your work will allow the department to offer the highest level of care to those who depend on us.
Inside Hoag's Staffing Office
As Nurse Staffing Coordinator, your primary responsibility will be to ensure that each unit is staffed according to California State guidelines. This is accomplished by utilizing the float pool, through scheduling, answering phones, ordering department supplies as directed, and compiling and maintaining patient expiration records. You will work closely with Department Supervisors and Directors to determine which units need additional staff, maintaining strong correspondence throughout, and providing administrative support and assistance with department-related projects when needed.
Other duties may include:
- Accurately documenting activities (sick, absent, tardy, floating, AR’s, schedule changes OT, extra shifts) on staffing sheets.
- Inputting new registry employee data into ANSOS, including license, BLS, date orientation packet is given, and unit-specific certifications, and entering date unit specific evaluations signed in ANSOS.
- Accurately navigating the Affinity system to change passwords, enter midnight census, input acuities, and print acuity reports immediately following data entry.
- Routinely printing nursing staffing office related reports such as the AR list, Code Reason Report, Disaster List, and the Staffing Report Sheets for nursing units/ schedule changes.
- Managing staffing, updating employee data, and auditing shifts and schedules, to ensure employees meet the requirements for shifts.
- Ensuring that the weekly schedule is printed and filed in the master schedule book.
- Planning and distributing staffing schedules for the Nursing Division 2, communicating scheduling needs with all staff when there are shortages of available staff.
- Obtaining licensure of any registry employee new to Hoag and performing license verification.
- Maintaining registry files for registry employees new to Hoag, ensuring that files contain copies of current license, unit-specific certification expirations, and Department Director coverage.
- Aiding in the training of new employees, and offering guidance, assistance, and direction to less experienced personnel.
- Responding appropriately to inquiries and complaints, taking the initiative to resolve problems with appropriate action and follow through, including documentation for CQI.
Required
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organizational and follow-through skills.
Preferred
- Knowledge of standard office equipment including, copy machines, computers, and fax machines.
- One (1) or more years of clinical staffing coordinator experience, in a hospital environment.
