SCOPE OF ROLE
Reporting to Chief Medical Officer, under the direction of the site-level Associate Medical Director and the Medical Director of Psychiatry, the Nurse Practitioner Resident at Signature Health receives dedicated mentorship and education for one year to learn to provide compassionate, supportive, patient-centered psychiatric medical care to our patients. The Nurse Practitioner Resident works diligently to help improve the daily lives of patients by providing evaluations/consultations, diagnosis, monitoring of progress, and pharmacologic and other behavioral health treatment services while working collaboratively with Signature Health staff, including primary care physicians, counselors, case managers, and outside entities to provide quality holistic care for patients.
HOW YOU’LL SUCCEED:
- Provide ongoing consultation and management for assigned patients as requested or as necessary in accordance with accepted standards of psychiatric practice.
- Provide psychiatric services on the days and at the times established and scheduled by Signature Health. The Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner’s clinical schedule will be maximized in order to best serve all our clients in need and to maximize access to services for new clients. This may include providing services on a same-day basis or providing care to patients using a walk-in service model.
- Utilize the electronic medical records system to timely and accurately fulfill all administrative responsibilities attendant to his/her performance of direct patient care, including but not limited to, entry and completion of progress notes detailing all patient encounters, services provided and treatment plans recommended; electronic order entry of medications and diagnostic tests; and other required documentation in accordance with the policies and procedures of Signature Health and/or other relevant accrediting or regulatory bodies.
- Prepare and attend to all reports, claims, and correspondence (including email) necessary or appropriate to the performance of the professional services. Prompt response, generally a response within 24 hours (or sooner as medically/business appropriate) is required.
- Refer patients to other services within the agency, other physicians, including specialists and other health care providers, when and if needed.
- Provide coverage when other physician employees/contractors are unavailable due to vacations, holidays, illness, other personal or professional absences, or as required by Signature Health.
- Be available to take calls as assigned by the Agency.
- Report incidents timely, including major unusual incidents, and other information required to appropriate governmental authorities and as required for Agency reporting.
- Participate in Agency required quality assurance, peer review, compliance, and credentialing/privileging activities.
- Attend all educational activities and meetings required by the Nurse Practitioner Residency Program.
- Perform other duties assigned by the Agency from time to time that are commensurate with professional services normally and customarily performed by a physician.
- Exercise independent medical judgment consistent with approved methods and practices with the area of specialty and in the best interest of the patients. All other activities are to be conducted with the consultation and assistance of the Associate Medical Director, Medical Director and/or Chief Medical Officer. Treatment activities should be performed as a team function as appropriate.

KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE:
- Completion of a master’s/post-master’s or doctorate degree in an accredited nursing program with emphasis in his or her specialty area.
- Ohio Licensed Advance Practice Registered Nurse (APRN), in good standing upon effective date of employment
- DEA License
- Current certification by a nationally accredited professional nursing organization such as the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) or American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP)
- American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Ability to effectively communicate both in writing and orally
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and Electronic Health Records
TIMELINE:
- Open for applications: February 5th - April 1st.
- Interviews conducted with selected applicants: April/Early May.
- Offers extended including location assignments: May 20th - 24th.
- Applicants provide their offer decision: May 27th - May 31st.
- New Hire Activities (Onboarding appointment and credentialing): June 3rd - 21st.
- Start date for orientation: July 29th.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office/clinical work environment.
- While hours of operation are generally standard, flexibility to work evenings and extended hours may be required.
- Requires periods of sitting, standing, telephone, and computer work.
- Hearing: adequate to hear clients or patients in person, over the telephone or through telehealth technology.
- Speaking: adequate to speak to clients or patients in person, over the telephone or through telehealth technology.
- Vision: Visual acuity adequate to perform job duties, including reading information from printed sources and computer screens.
- Physical effort required: occasional lifting and carrying items weighing up to 15 pounds, unassisted.
- Possible exposure to blood borne pathogens while performing job duties.
- Frequent bending, reaching, and repetitive hand movements, standing, walking, squatting and sitting, with some lifting, pushing and pulling exerted regularly throughout a regular workday.
- Sufficient dexterity to operate a PC and other office equipment.
