Our client, a world-leading Pharmaceutical Company in Santa Clara, CA is currently looking for a Nurse Practitioner OR Registered Nurse to join their expanding team.
Position Details:
- Job Title: Nurse Practitioner OR Registered Nurse / Occupational Health & Wellness
- Duration: 9 months contract, extendable up to 24 months
- Location: Santa Clara, CA

- The Nurse Practitioner will be a member of Global Health Services (GHS) integrated team, which includes Physicians, Nurses, Employee Assistance Professionals, Wellness Professionals, and other Occupational Health Professionals.
- Services will be provided under the mentorship or supervision of the Business Site Lead and general direction of the designated Physician (as required by law).
- The Nurse Practitioner will be interacting with other departments including EHS&S (Environment, Health, Safety & Sustainability), Human Resources / Global Services Employee Relations, Facilities, and Site Management as appropriate.
Key responsibilities:
- Complies with policy, collaborative agreements, procedures, written standing orders, and medical directives as required by the company and State Nurse Practice Act
- Assesses medical conditions, develops diagnosis and treatment plans, and follows a course of treatment with limited physician intervention
- Provides higher level clinical nursing services to employees or persons who become ill or suffer an accident at work facilities, per Company Standing Orders, as applicable
- Provides advanced medical care to minimize lost time and to keep employees physically and mentally able to perform jobs
- Prescribe medications, physical therapy, order diagnostic testing, and perform medical procedures including ongoing treatment of injuries and illnesses
- Dispenses standard over the counter and/or prescription drugs and medicines, per Company Standing Orders
- Develops and implements a comprehensive immunization program
- Provides extensive professional nursing care during emergencies, minor illnesses and injuries
- Ensures the compilation of reports on the care and outcomes of employees seen meet government regulations and company policies
- Ensures monthly incident report summaries and areas of concern are completed
- Ensures delivery of copies to risk management with identified areas of concern
- Manages employee accident cases
- Oversees the preparation of necessary employee accident claims and follows up with employees, physicians, and insurance carriers
- Oversees maintenance of and researches new health education information, medical supplies and equipment
- Provides nursing services and emergency (first-aid) treatments to employees who become ill or injured on company premises, which includes responding to medical emergencies outside of Health Services clinic
- Provides preventive health evaluations and tests in accordance with the company Wellness Services program protocols
- Provides health and wellness advice for both occupational and non-occupational employee concerns
Qualifications:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and strong interpersonal skills providing excellent customer service, are required.
Required:
- Registered Nurse, Nurse Practitioner
- Active State or Province RN/NP license (or ability to obtain license within 6 months of hire)
- Minimum 1-year clinical care experience in family medicine/ambulatory care
- Ability to work with an electronic medical database system
- Certified First Aid/CPR/AED
- Phlebotomy experience
Preferred:
- COHN-S
- Certification in Occupational Health Nursing and Case Management
- Working knowledge of OSHA Recordkeeping, Workers Compensation, Case Management, ADA, FMLA
- Spirometry certification
- Audiometry- Hearing Conservation
