The first floor offers a hospital-based Infusion Center with 22 private and semi-private infusion chairs, a full service infusion pharmacy and an onsite laboratory and conference room to host patient support groups and other educational events. The second floor will include a physician medical office, with 20 outpatient exam rooms, 10 physician consult offices and a family education conference room. The Cancer Institute at Good Samaritan will provide patients with comprehensive care focused around the patient experience.

Infusion Center Opportunity

The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) is an integral part of the delivery of health care and provides for primary care in many ambulatory settings through the CHS Physician Enterprise.  The APP provides patient care under the supervision of a qualified physician and is credentialed through the Medical Staff process.

 DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES: 

• Participates in and provides clinical care to patients through interview and observation, evaluation and assessment, intervention, planning and written documentation during their visit at the Infusion Center.
• Initiates selected therapeutic and diagnostic procedures, consultations and laboratory examination, prescribes and alters medication regiments, interprets findings and alters plan of care according to collaborative practice agreement and protocols.  
• Takes initial patient histories and performs physical examinations.
• Initiates, documents, and communicates the plan of care and follows up to ensure complete screening and preparation of patients.
• Monitors any and all clinical infusion complications/reactions and responds accordingly in collaboration with nursing staff and physician team.
• Performs daily patient rounds.
• Writes orders for medications, laboratory work, and diagnostic tests.
• Interprets laboratory and test results.
• Confers with attending physicians, residents, nursing staff, and/or other care providers to ensure optimum quality of patient care.
• Participates in team meetings and conferences to enhance an interdisciplinary approach amongst clinical providers and patient care.
• Educates patients and their caregiver on Chemotherapy/Biotherapy side effects and maintenance

Requirements:

• PA - Completion of an accredited Physician Assistant program, minimum Bachelor’s degree required
• NP - Completion of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program, current RN license and current AANP or ANCC certification

Experience

• Minimum of two years’ experience as an APP in a physician practice or ambulatory environment preferred. Oncology/Hematology highly preferred.  

Certification:

• Physician Assistant Certified (PA-C) or Nurse Practitioner certification (AANP or ANCC certification)

• BLS/ACLS/AED training required and accepted from only 2 organizations:
• American Heart Association - BLS/ACLS for Healthcare Providers (CPR & AED) Program
• No online programs from any organization will be accepted.
• DEA registration required for those with discharge responsibilities.
