JOB SUMMARY:
Provides psychiatric and general medical care and treatment to patients, in collaboration with and under the direction of a psychiatrist. Reports to the Chief Medical Officer.
Performs psychiatric and physical examinations and preventive health measures within prescribed guidelines and instructions of physician. Assess/reassess psychiatric and medical care needs and their management by age group.

Education and Experience:
Master of Science in Nursing with Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner degree or Family Nurse Practitioner degree OR Graduate of an Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA) approved Physician Assistant training program
Experience in adult, adolescent and child inpatient psychiatric treatment preferred.
Language Skills:
Ability to read and interpret instructions documents and follows procedures.
Ability to write routine reports and speak effectively with patients and their families, employees, and public.
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables as needed.
Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule
Certificates, Licenses, Registration:
Current West Virginia APRN licensure. Psychiatric Nurse Board Certification or
NCCAP, Current West Virginia Physician Assistant licensure.

Ability to work with individuals with diverse backgrounds and education.
Ability to maintain independence and confidentiality from other employees as needed in the performance of duties.
Familiarity with external regulatory and licensure rules and regulations.

Incumbent will be expected to have the ability to respond to rapidly escalating patient situations, and adapt to the many varied resultant physical posturing by a patient in crisis as recommended in Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) training.
