About the Job
Nurse Practitioner Duties/Responsibilities:
- Functions independently to perform age-appropriate history and physicals
- Orders and interprets diagnostic test relative to patient’s age-specific needs
- Prescribes appropriate pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic treatment modalities
- Monitors and modifies treatment plans and interventions based on changing patient needs.
- Collaborates with multidisciplinary team members by making appropriate referrals
- Provides patient and family education to facilitate positive patient outcomes
- Assist and provides input for the creation and implementation of clinic policy
- Assist in data entry and collection upon request
- Communicates effectively with patients, families, and other healthcare professionals
- Maintains accurate and up to date patient medical records
- Completes patient charts on time each clinic day
- Stay current with the latest clinical guidelines and maintains current education and requirements for licensure in the state of Louisiana

- Ability to work independently as well as a part of the interdisciplinary team
- Stay current with the latest clinical guidelines and maintains current education and requirements for licensure in the state of Louisiana
- Flexible to work a scheduled late clinic when needed or when other providers are not available.
- Participates in administrative and management meetings with an active role in clinic leadership.
- Participates in CQI and works with clinic staff on specific projects as requested by administration.
- Participates in a provider call rotation for patient calls after hours.
Requirements/Experience/Qualifications:
- Graduate of an accredited nursing school and nurse practitioner program
- Minimum of 5 years of Nurse Practitioner experience
- Licensed by the Nursing Board of Louisiana
- Strong knowledge of healthcare regulations and accreditation standards.
- Prefer experience in HIV and STI care
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and quality management software.
- Experience with electronic health records (EHR) systems.
- Adhere to privacy and information security requirements (HIPAA) and other regulations
