We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Consulting Nurse Paralegal to join our team. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys working on complex medical-legal cases, and has a strong background in both nursing and legal matters. The ideal candidate will have a unique blend of clinical experience, legal knowledge, and the ability to provide expert consultation on a variety of litigation cases. This is a consulting role that requires a deep understanding of medical terminology, procedures, and ethics, as well as legal principles, research, and trial preparation.
Responsibilities:
1. Review, analyze, and summarize medical records and other pertinent materials to provide expert opinions on litigation cases
2. Conduct medical research to support case preparation and provide expert consultation to legal teams.
3. Assist in the development of medical-legal case theories, strategies, and trial preparations.
4. Provide medical knowledge and expertise to attorneys during client meetings, depositions, mediations, and trials.
5. Develop and maintain relationships with medical experts, and coordinate expert witness testimony.
6. Prepare comprehensive medical summaries and chronologies.
7. Assist in drafting pleadings, legal memoranda, affidavits, and other legal documents.
8. Collaborate with the legal team to ensure the best possible outcomes for clients.
Qualifications:
1. Registered Nurse (RN) or Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) with active licensure.
2. A minimum of 5 years of clinical nursing experience.
3. A Paralegal Certificate
4. Prior experience in a legal setting, preferably in medical malpractice, personal injury, or healthcare law.
5. Strong understanding of medical terminology, procedures, and standards of care.
6. Proficient in legal research and trial preparation.
7. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
8. Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment, as well as independently.
9. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
10. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and legal research software.
11. Ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
12. Certified Legal Nurse Consultant (CLNC) or similar certification is preferred but not required.
