Job Details
The Hematology/Oncology Nurse Manager oversees clinical, administrative, operational, and compliance functions in the assigned area. Key responsibilities include ensuring quality and safety in clinical practices, supporting staff development, managing resources, and enhancing patient and staff experiences.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage Oncology Infusion Nurses, Nurse Navigators, Physician Office Nurses, and Medical Assistants.
- Collaborate with clinical trials team to review trials and patient enrollment.
- Handle staffing, scheduling, and PTO for direct reports.
- Lead morning huddles, ensuring efficient patient flow between practice and infusion.
- Participate in hiring, peer reviews, and staff orientation.
- Coordinate clinical in-services and oversee quality and compliance auditing.
- Ensure accurate charge reconciliation and support patient scheduling for efficient physician utilization.
- Partner with Practice Manager to optimize patient volumes and maintain a safe care environment.
This role is pivotal in leading clinical quality, operational efficiency, and patient satisfaction across the practice.
QUALIFICATIONS
Experience:
- Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in clinical practice as a professional nurse with related responsibility/experience in appropriate oncology/hematology specialty area.
- Leadership experience in nursing preferred.
Education:
- Bachelor of Science in nursing (BSN), required.
- Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) preferred.
Licensure/Certification:
- Current and in good standing RN Licensure with South Carolina Board of Nursing.
- American Heart Association Healthcare provider course with Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required to be initially completed with the Organizational Development Office within 30 calendar days of hire date
- BLS Recertification is required every two years.
- ONS Chemotherapy/Biotherapy provider card required. Oncology certification (OCN) preferred.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Comprehensive nursing expertise, modeling professional standards in oncology and infusion care.
- Up-to-date on oncology best practices, trends, and technologies.
- Strong organizational, planning, and delegation skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills for teamwork and effective decision-making.
- Knowledgeable in safety and regulatory standards, basic financial budgeting, and project management.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and Electronic Medical Records; knowledge of LEAN/Six Sigma preferred.
- Problem-solving and data-driven decision-making abilities.
- Self-motivated with adaptability and flexibility.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation for travel across multiple clinical sites.
