Job Opportunity: Nuclear Quality Assurance (NQA) Specialist
Location: Remote | Duration: 12-Month Contract
System One is seeking an experienced NQA Specialist to support the development of the Nuclear Quality Assurance program for the Kemmerer Power Station (KPS). This position reports directly to the Program and Procedure Development Manager and plays a critical role in creating, implementing, and maintaining NQA processes and procedures. The successful candidate will collaborate with various internal departments, project partners, regulators, and external organizations to ensure the program’s success.
Responsibilities
- Develop and execute plans for the creation, organization, and tracking of the KPS NQA program.
- Create and maintain processes and standards for writing and revising NQA procedures.
- Collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams for procedure reviews and database implementation.
- Leverage smart procedures or software tools to develop electronic procedures.
- Apply industry best practices to minimize the risk of NQA events through high-quality procedures.
- Engage with industry peers, third-party vendors, NEI, and other organizations to explore innovative methods for procedure development.
- Ensure NQA procedures comply with company standards, NRC regulations, INPO accreditation criteria, and other relevant codes and standards.
- Provide training and mentorship to personnel on NQA processes and standards.
- Incorporate insights from NRC Circulars, Bulletins, INPO reports, regulatory changes, and other relevant updates into NQA procedures.
- Maintain comprehensive knowledge of plant design, maintenance, and disciplinary techniques to develop effective, high-quality procedures.
- Supervise the collection and maintenance of auditable procedure development records.
- Support the Procedure Manager in establishing departmental goals and project-specific cost estimates.
Key Qualifications and Skills
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in NQA within commercial nuclear power plants.
- Strong understanding of nuclear power plant systems and terminology.
- Proficient in interpreting nuclear standards and ensuring strict procedural and regulatory compliance.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Experience with smart procedures or similar software-based tools.
- Excellent technical writing and communication skills.
- High attention to detail and a commitment to NQA excellence.
- Self-motivated with a proven ability to develop innovative solutions with minimal supervision.
- Strong integrity, teamwork orientation, and open communication skills.
- Ability to understand the organizational impact of decisions on regulatory and public requirements.
- Adaptability to emergent changes, including plant design and procedural adjustments, in a dynamic project environment.
