Required Certifications:
- Basic Life Support (BLS)
- COVID Vaccine Certification
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)
Unit Notes:
- Coverage needed for Level 3B NICU and delivery room.
- Average daily census of 15.
- Applicants should have intubation skills, line placement skills, and be comfortable with tiny babies.
- Neonatology is on call from home.
- Rounding in daytime with Peds Resident and NNP.
- Coverage includes 3 twelve-hour shifts per week for 3 weeks, and 4 twelve-hour shifts on the 4th week.
Position Summary:
Bronxcare Hospital Center - Grand Concourse Campus is seeking an experienced and skilled Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) to join our Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). As an integral member of our healthcare team, you will provide exceptional care to critically ill neonates in a Level 3B NICU, ensuring the highest standards of medical and nursing practice.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver advanced nursing care to neonates in the NICU, including comprehensive assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and evaluation.
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to develop and implement individualized care plans for neonates.
- Use the Allscripts - Sunrise 6.1 CQM system for precise and efficient charting and documentation.
- Perform and interpret diagnostic tests, initiate treatments, and administer medications.
- Educate and support families, ensuring they understand treatment plans and care processes.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient care and outcomes.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of best practices, protocols, and procedures in neonatal care.
- Provide intubation and line placement skills, and manage the care of tiny and critically ill neonates.
- Engage in daily rounding with Peds Residents and NNPs.
Qualifications:
- Master's or Doctorate degree in Nursing from an accredited program.
- Current licensure as a Nurse Practitioner in the State of New York.
- Certification as a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner (NNP) preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in a NICU setting.
- Proficiency with Allscripts - Sunrise 6.1 CQM charting system.
- BLS, COVID Vaccine Certification, and NRP certification required.
- Excellent communication, teamwork, and critical thinking skills.
Working Conditions:
- Full-time position with guaranteed 34.5 hours per week.
- Rotating schedule with 12-hour shifts during day and evening.
- High-paced, high-stress environment requiring quick and effective response to emergent situations.
- Physical demands include prolonged standing, lifting, and performing procedures at the bedside.
