North Scott Baptist Church (Pardeeville, WI) – Pastor
The Big Picture
North Scott Baptist Church (northscottbaptist.com) is seeking a Pastor who will preach the Word of God and shepherd the Body of Christ.
Requirements
Theology of Ministry
The theme of ministering is throughout the Scriptures. There are functional differences between apostles, prophets, teachers, pastors and the general body of disciples, but the concept of the one body was and is the important image of the church. There is the call of God to the individual to be “set apart” as a pastor, and there is the validating corporate call of a specific church to the individual to serve in that designated position to and with that congregation. Following the Biblical pattern from Timothy, Titus and 1Peter, pastors are preachers, teachers, overseers, leaders, under-shepherds and servants for our Lord Jesus Christ.
The North Scott Baptist Church believes that the Scriptures of the Old and New Testament are the inerrant Word of God, and we accept them and them only as final authority in all matters of private morals, church government and religious belief and practice. With these thoughts in mind, the following are our expectations regarding the duties of our pastor.
The pastor shall be responsible for:
Worship Service:
1. Preaching
2. Worship leadership (in conjunction with lay assistance)
3. Administering the ordinances of Baptism and the Lord’s Supper
4. Officiating at weddings and funerals of church members
Teaching Role:
1. Serve with the Elders as guardians of the truth as revealed in God’s Word, helping to watch over the spiritual welfare of the church.
2. Teaching (i.e. Bible study, membership classes and SS)
3. Participate with the Elders in training leaders (i.e. associate pastor, youth leader, deacons)
4. Training related to evangelism, discipleship and the Biblical response to moral/ social concerns
Pastoral Care:
1. Counseling (marital, premarital, etc.)
2. Visitation (evangelism, homes, hospital, nursing homes) 3. Ministry to the bereaved
Administration:
The minister is the point of contact for administration of the total church program, although many of the duties of administration are delegated to lay leadership. The minister shall assist officers, boards and committees with long/short term planning.
