POSITION SUMMARY:
Part time position under the direction of the Aquatic Program & Training Manager, the Noodle Polo Swim Coach is responsible for managing a quality program that focuses on participants of all ability levels, ages five to nine years. The coach is responsible for developing swimming skills, teamwork, sportsmanship and a positive attitude in all of the program participants, with an emphasis on safety and participant satisfaction. This individual must have experience as a water polo player and be proficient in teaching proper stroke and drill techniques. Ability to establish and maintain harmonious relationships with staff, YMCA members and the general public is essential.

Aquatics Program and Training Manager
PAY RANGE:
$25.00/hour - $35.00/hour
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Develop and implement a comprehensive training plan for the YMCA Noodle Polo Team.
- Teach and mentor participants as a positive role model with an emphasis on safety.
- Conduct regular practice sessions focused on improving individual and team performance.
- Foster a positive and inclusive team culture that promotes sportsmanship, teamwork and mutual respect.
- Communicate effectively with players, parents and staff members regarding team schedules, expectations and goals.
- Maintain a safe and organized training environment, adhering to all relevant safety guidelines and protocols.
- Attend training and staff meetings when applicable.
- Stay updated on developments and trends in water polo coaching and incorporate new strategies and techniques when appropriate.
- Represent the YMCA positively and maintain relationships among community groups.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Previous experience as a water polo player at a competitive level.
- Current certification in American Red Cross Lifeguard for the Professional Rescuer.
- Ability to work flexible hours including afternoon/evenings.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively motivate and inspire players.
WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Indoor pool facility: this environment is characterized by warm temperatures and high humidity levels.
- The atmosphere can be loud and busy with multiple classes or swim sessions occurring simultaneously.
- Candidates will interact with a diverse group of participants, including children, adults and individuals with special needs, requiring a friendly, patient and professional demeanor.
- The role requires an adherence to safety and hygiene protocols, as well as the ability to maintain a clean and organized pool area.
- The swim instructor position requires a high level of fitness and endurance. Swim Instructors are required to spend extended periods of time in the water, demonstrating skill technique and assisting participants.
- The role involves frequent bending, reaching, lifting and moving of equipment as much as 10lbs, as well as the ability to support swimmers of various sizes.
- Strong verbal communication skills are essential to effectively instruct and ensure the safety of all participants.
