News Reporter - Law Business Research
Washington, DC
About the Job
Description
Global Investigations Review, a leading international news, analysis and data platform covering the intricacies of cross-border investigations into corporate wrongdoing, is looking for a news reporter to join its team in the US. This is an entry-level position.
You’ll be part of a team of reporters responsible for GIR’s coverage of foreign bribery and sanctions law, policy, investigations and enforcement developments – a fast-moving area as the Department of Justice follows through on its promise to prosecute companies for harming national security.
You will write for a global expert audience comprising white-collar investigations and compliance professionals at law firms, government agencies, professional services firms and major companies. You will cover relevant news obtained through the scouring of financial filings, court records, conversations with sources and FOIA requests, among others.
You will be expected to build on the team’s established track record in delivering relevant high-quality, deep analysis and scoops on policy and personnel changes at major agencies including the DOJ, SEC and OFAC. You will also be offered opportunities to develop your pitching and feature-writing skills, covering new trends or underreported yet integral elements of international investigations into corporate corruption and sanctions evasion. You’d be working alongside the brand’s US news editor, who will provide hands-on training and regular feedback.
