About the Role
The New Product Development Engineer is responsible for new product creation, engineering changes, and qualification processes for commercial office products, bills of material, and labor routings for all new products and product changes via prototyping and actual manufacturing process performance analysis. They develop quotations for non-standard and new product pricing requests. The New Product Development Engineer also maintains engineering drawings, specifications, and quality procedure documentation.
What You’ll Do
- New product development using materials such as aluminum, steel, and cement.
- Evaluating and identifying potential product opportunities and market trends
- Working closely with cross-functional teams to develop product requirements and specifications.
- Designing and developing product prototypes using CAD and other engineering tools
- Conducting analytical, environmental and functional tests on prototypes to ensure efficiency and functionality.
- Identifying and selecting materials needed for production.
- Presenting product proposals to stakeholders and management team
- Monitoring the production process to ensure product quality and consistency.
- Resolving product issues and challenges, making modifications as necessary
- Documenting all product development processes and modifications for reference and reporting
- Ensuring all product development procedures comply with industry regulations and standards.
- Designs, implements, and documents qualification and testing plans.
- Maintains awareness of individual contribution to and impact of the quality, safety, environmental, and product compliance policies and activities; reports all quality issues, unsafe acts, and unsafe conditions to the proper personnel.
Additional Expectations
- Remain compliant with the Code of Conduct and Policies which includes the Kingspan Group Compliance Policy.
- Ensure that all duties related to product compliance are adhered to in accordance with the Product Compliance Policy, Laws, Regulations, and market demands.
- Responsible for all tasks to achieve compliance goals and demands of the Compliance Management System.
- Must raise concerns related to the Compliance Management System to their supervisor, manager, or any member of the Leadership Team, or through the confidential whistle blower service.
What You’ll Bring
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or another related field.
- A minimum 4 years if relevant work experience as a Product Development Engineer or similar role.
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes and materials
- Proficient in 3D CAD software, SolidWorks, Onshape or similar.
- Experience in mechanical and structural design
- Strong problem-solving abilities
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent problem-solving skills & hands-on abilities to build prototypes, diagnose problems, and report findings or corrective actions.
- Working knowledge of technical drawing standards and practices, including view representation, dimensioning, tolerances, and symbols.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and interface with sales, customer service, purchasing, manufacturing, engineering, quality, and marketing.
- Occasional travel required.
