Key Responsibilities
- Deliver exceptional, compassionate nursing care to patients, particularly in surgical and post-operative settings.
- Restrain animals for neurological exams, procedures, and treatments.
- Administer medications and perform venipuncture, laboratory procedures, and specimen preparation.
- Prepare patients for procedures, including IV catheter placement, anesthesia induction, intubation, and surgical prep.
- Monitor anesthesia under the supervision of our anesthesiologist, tracking vital signs such as temperature, pulse, respiration, SpO2, and CO2.
- Assist with diagnostic studies (radiography, CT, MRI) — training available.
- Communicate effectively with veterinarians, clients, and team members about patient needs, treatment plans, and discharge instructions.
- Perform basic care (feeding, walking, cleaning of hospitalized patients) and handle kennel duties as needed.
- Perform surgical room preparation, including instrument setup, room breakdown, sterilization, and assisting in surgeries as required.
- Handle inventory, stocking, and assist in maintaining a clean and organized work environment.
Qualifications
- Education
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Experience
- Veterinary Nurse experience required, with a focus on anesthesia monitoring and surgical skills. Neurology experience is a bonus but not required.
- Skills
- Strong communication and customer service skills; basic computer skills; flexibility to adapt to changing environments.

Additional Position Requirements
- Schedule
- 10-hour shifts, including one on-call weekend per month (subject to change based on caseload). Occasional overtime may be required.
- Physical Requirements
- Frequent standing, bending, and lifting up to 40 pounds (assistance required for heavier lifting).
- Work Environment
- Exposure to chemotherapy agents, radiation (x-ray and CT), anesthetic agents, and potential hazards associated with animal care (bites, scratches, infectious diseases).
